How to Apply Watco Powerfloat Primer - Step-by-Step Guide

In this video, we'll walk you through the process of applying Powerfloat Primer. A smooth power floated floor looks great, however when it comes to painting – it can be problematic. Paint will not typically adhere to a power floated floor leaving you with a paint finish that just won’t last. Watco Powerfloat Primer enables you to paint your surfaces without costly mechanical abrasion. It is quick and easy to apply, has low odour and can be overcoated with most paints including Watco Epoxy Gloss Coat.

How to prime smooth or power floated floors with Watco Powerfloat Primer

STEP 1 – PREPARATION

• Thoroughly clean the surface to ensure it is free of dust, dirt and loose material.
• If the concrete is new or bare, remove surface laitance, dust and any light dirt or grease deposits using Watco Etch and Clean.

STEP 2 – MIXING

• Remove the two inner tins. 
• Stir the content of both tins thoroughly. 
• Pour the mixed components into the large outer tin. 
• Stir thoroughly until even in colour and consistency. 
• Use a 25mm wooden batten for best results. 
• Pour the mixed coating into a plastic scuttle for immediate use. 

STEP 3 – APPLICATION 

• Use a paint brush to cut in around the edges of the surface. 
• Mark out the area to be painted with masking tape to ensure clean, even edges. 
• Apply with a medium pile roller. 
• Do not apply at temperatures below 10C or above 30C.
