How to make Smooth, Slippery Concrete Floors Safe with Watco Safety Coat
Though a floor may look clean, it can easily become slippery and cause a serious slip hazard. Watco Safety Coat is the perfect solution for this in heavy wear areas such as warehouses, production areas, workshops and showrooms.
Safety Coat’s pre-blended aggregate makes it easy to create an even finely textured finish, and unlike conventional anti slip coatings, Safety Coat’s unique circular anti slip beads will not catch on floor wipes, making the surface exceptionally easy to clean and maintain.

How to make Smooth, Slippery Concrete Floors Safe with Watco Safety Coat
What you'll need:
- Watco Safety Coat
- Watco Painting Kit:
- 12“ Roller Frame & Telescopic Handle
- Plastic Scuttle
- 5“ and 2“ Paint Brush
- Mixing Blade
STEP 1 – PREPARATION
Thoroughly clean the surface to ensure it is free from dust and dirt.
If the concrete is new or bare, remove surface laitance, dust and any light dirt or grease deposits using Watco Etch and Clean.
Watco Bio-D can be used to remove grease and oil from painted surfaces.
Mark out the area to be painted with masking tape to ensure clean, even edges.
Use different colours for walkways and storage areas.
STEP 2 – MIXING
Stir the content of both tins thoroughly.
Pour the mixed components back into the larger tin.
Scrape around the inside of the tin to remove all contents.
Stir thoroughly until even in colour and consistency.
Pour the coating into a plastic scuttle for immediate use.
STEP 3 – APPLICATION
Apply the first coat with a medium pile roller.
This acts as a primer, sealing the floor.
Because the aggregate is the same density as the paint, it will give a uniform distribution of the aggregate, unlike other anti slip paints.
Apply a second coat once the first coat is dry (4-6 hrs).
The pre-blended aggregate provides a finely textured, easy to clean finish.
