Let's show you how...
Worn and slippery steps are one of the most common hazards that lead to accidents at work. Watco Firm-Step GRP Step Covers are part of a range of pre-formed, instant, anti slip surfaces which have an extremely durable, fibreglass base with a coarse ceramic grip bonded to the top for a heavy duty slip resistant surface.
Easy to install and virtually indestructible and far tougher than others on the market. The step covers can be supplied in a number of lengths, from 600mm to 3m and two depths of 220mm and 345mm. However, you may need to cut to the required length. This can be done with a hacksaw, although the material is very tough, so a jigsaw or good quality diamond edged abrasive disc is recommended. And if you don't have the right power tools, please ask about our free cut to size service.
For internal steps, all you need to fix the step covers is Watco adhesive mastic. For external steps, Watco Step Covers are also screw fixed. See installation details on our website.
Number each step cover if the steps are of uneven lengths. When fixing with Watco Adhesive Mastic, the surface should be reasonably clean and dry. Badly dished or holed concrete should be filled first with Watco Concrex. If the steps are damp, dirty, dryable, or in a very cold environment, you should fit using screws. Again, you'll find details on our website.
To fix the step covers, first apply a thick bead of Watco Adhesive Mastic of about 6mm onto the riser. Apply in peaks and toughs of about 200mm up and down across the surface and around the edges about 25mm in from the edge. Increase the amount of mastic for uneven substrates. Then press the riser carefully and firmly into place.
Now, in the same way, apply mastic to the underside of the top step edging. Press firmly into place and then repeat the process on each of the subsequent risers and step covers until you are done. A firm bond will be achieved in about one hour in normal conditions.
Watco Firm-Step Anti Slip Step Covers are economical and quick to install. The tough GRP base is resistant to stretching, warping and swelling.
The step covers are available in two different anti slip grades. Medium for internal and extra coarse for external steps and walkways.
