Surface PreparationWatco Asphalt Paint can be applied to asphalt, tarmac, masonry, bricks and breeze blocks. It also adheres well to concrete, but it is not recommended for concrete where vehicles will be parked. (See instead
Watco Epoxy Gloss Coat).
Ensure the surface is clean, sound and dry (slightly damp is acceptable).
Watco Bio D is a virtually solvent free degreaser which can be used on asphalt and similar surfaces. Watco Asphalt Paint can be applied to existing paint providing all poorly bonded material is removed and glossy surfaces are dulled using abrasive paper.
Application
Apply Watco Asphalt Paint by brush or medium pile type roller. One coat is generally sufficient although a second coat may be required on very porous or very rough surfaces. Avoid applying too thickly. Do not apply externally if rain or frost is forecast or if the temperature is below 10°C. The second coat can often be applied after as little as 1 hour depending on drying conditions.
In exceptional temperature conditions advice should be obtained from Watco’s Technical Department.
