Surface PreparationEnsure surfaces to be painted are clean, dry, and free from dust, dirt, grease and any loose material. If previous well-bonded coatings are smooth and glossy they should be abraded before overcoating. All defective or poorly bonded coatings should be removed. Special precautions should be taken during preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces as they may contain lead.
Prime exposed iron and steel with
Watco Red Oxide Primer. This should also be used on rusty metal after first removing surface rust by wire brushing or abrading. Galvanised surfaces should be prepared using
Watco Galvaprime. If using on concrete, brick or render, remove all loose surface material.
Application
Stir thoroughly before use.
Apply two coats using a brush, roller or airless spray. This paint is intended for use on cladding, however if painting very porous surfaces such as bare concrete, brick, render etc dilute the first coat with up to 20% clean water. An additional coat may then be required.
Allow each coat to dry before overcoating.
Important Protect containers and contents from frost and exposure to direct sunlight or excessive heat.
