Surface PreparationEnsure surfaces are clean, dry and sound.
Watco Tack Coat Damp Prime can be applied to surfaces which cannot be dried. A primer is not normally required. Simply sweep or use a stiff brush to remove dust, dirt and loose material. If application is to a painted surface scrape off as much paint as possible. Steel should be clean, dry and rust free.
Mixing
Mix using a wide bladed tool such as a spatula or piece of wooden batten. Remove both tins from the bucket. Pour contents of larger tin (resin) into the bucket and mix into the sand. Then add the contents of the other tin (curing agent) and mix thoroughly until uniform. Mixing should continue until the correct consistency is achieved, which is ‘not quite flowable’. The mixed products have a pot life of approximately 30 minutes at 20ºC, which reduces at higher temperatures.
Application
Apply by trowel to the prepared surface. Carefully lay the kerb or other feature into the wet mortar. Press down firmly to ensure good contact and to obtain desired thickness of joint (anything between 2mm and 13mm). Remove excess before it sets. To prevent excess material staining adjacent surfaces use masking tape.
Note: if using for more courses than just the base course of a wall, we recommend allowing each course of bricks etc. to set before adding the next.
