Surface Preparation Ensure the area to be sprayed is clean, dry, and free of dust and loose material. For optimum adhesion and therefore a longer lasting line, rinse the area, brush dirt away with a stiff broom and allow to dry thoroughly. Watco Easymark is suitable for bare or painted concrete and asphalt indoors or outdoors, but we recommend a small area is tested first to ensure compatibility with other surfaces. If painting a new line (rather than overpainting an existing line) we recommend you mark the floor with a guide using chalk and string.
Application
- Before use, shake aerosol until the metal balls inside the can rattle, then shake vigorously for 1-2 minutes.
- If using an Easymark applicator, adjust the height of the wheels using the wingnuts on the yoke on each side of the applicator. With the can in the lowest position the line will be approx 38mm wide. The other positions will give lines approximately 50 and 78mm wide. There is a plastic disc on the inside of each wheel. These are designed to give sharper edges to the line.
- Stand the aerosol upright and fit the nozzle. Turn the can upside down and push it into the applicator spring clips. Align the nozzle with the end of the trigger, ensuring the spray head is fitted securely into the hole.
- To apply a line gently squeeze the trigger on the applicator. To avoid a “build up” of paint at one point make sure the applicator is in motion before activating the trigger. This is best achieved by sticking a piece of cardboard or similar material to the floor as a mask at the start of the line. Likewise, it is recommended to secure card etc as a mask at the end of the line for a crisp finish. Start to spray the line while the applicator is in motion, above the cardboard mask, and stop spraying once the applicator is above the mask at the opposite end of the line. Remove the card once the paint has become touch dry. Where possible, paint a whole line in one “spray” and avoid joins. Walk with the applicator at a consistent speed to maintain an even line. Walk slowly to ensure you produce a solid line. The wider the line, the slower you should walk in order to achieve a well defined line.
- To create a right angle, spray the first line as above. Allow at least 20 minutes for the line to dry, then apply the second line at right angles to the first, again using card masks for a neat finish.
- If the aerosol nozzle becomes blocked during use, remove the aerosol from the applicator, stand it upright and repeatedly press the nozzle until it clears.
- Immediately after use, remove the can from the applicator, hold it upright and spray for 2 5 seconds to clear the nozzle. Wipe any wet paint off the discs on the inside of each wheel immediately. To thoroughly clean the discs, allow the paint to dry, then flex the discs so that the paint can be peeled off.
- Watco Easymark is touch dry in 15 20 minutes and fully cured in 24 hours depending upon site and temperature conditions.
