Surface Preparation Concrete to be treated must be a least four weeks old and free of surface laitance (a weak dusty layer on concrete), contaminants and any previous coatings. All traces of grease or oil should be removed with
Watco Bio D (or similar degreasant) and the area thoroughly washed off and allowed to dry. Very smooth concrete or concrete with surface laitance, should be etched with
Watco Cemtetch to ensure adequate penetration. The concrete should be thoroughly washed down and allowed to dry after treatment with Watco Cemtetch.
Dustop can be applied over existing well bonded paint, but the surface should be well abraded to provide a key (Dustop can occasionally “roll-up” on the roller during application).
Watco Epoxy Gloss Coat is easier to apply to existing paint or very smooth surfaces.
Mixing
The smaller Resin tin should be twisted away from the Activator tin. The contents of the smaller Resin tin should be thoroughly stirred and the contents emptied into the large Activator tin. It is very important that all the contents of the Resin tin, including any settlement are decanted and thoroughly mixed with the Activator until an even colour is obtained.
Application
Best results are obtained in warm (minimum 15°C), dry conditions with a good through draught. In very high temperatures (30°C and above) it is recommended that the concrete be lightly dampened first with water. Apply Watco Dustop using a simulated sheepskin roller, working well into the surface of the concrete. Do not exceed the maximum coverage of 30m² per 4.5 litre pack. Do not re-work areas of coating or attempt to even out areas which are starting to cure and showing differences in colour. Any colour differences should disappear when the coating is thoroughly cured.
In exceptional temperature conditions advice should be obtained from Watco’s Technical Department.
